Palestinian premier denies presence of any Qaeda members in Gaza

Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya warned the world of being deceived by Israeli claims about the presence of Qaeda cells in the Gaza Strip and described them as lies aimed at justifying a new intended military aggression on the Strip.

Haneyya made his remarks in a news conference held in Gaza, in which he talked about the latest developments in the Palestinian arena.

He considered the last Israeli military escalation which claimed the lives of a number of Palestinian young men part of the Israeli war that was waged on Gaza 2 years ago.

"Despite the calm situation which the resistance factions are trying to keep in Gaza, the occupation has persisted in the policy of assassinations, incursions and killing, and increased the suffering of our people.

"There is no Qaeda in Gaza; there is only Palestinian resistance against the Zionist occupation. [This resistance] does not work outside the Palestinian borders or in the framework of the Arab and Muslim world, but only within the Palestinian context and territories," the premier emphasized.
