MB highlights violations in polls

The Muslim brotherhood has noted that the country’s recent People’s Assembly- which is scheduled to begin its sessions in a few days- was seriously marred by irregularities, and is invalid and does not reflect the will of the people. Instead, it establishes the dictatorship of a totalitarian regime and his relentless attempts to plunder the country’s natural resources.

The MB, in their weekly briefing, confirms that the group has zero representation in the upcoming unconstitutional parliament. They demanded Mubarak’s regime to apologize for what took place during the polls which were monitored by domestic and international NGO’s and to announce the invalidity of Egypt’s parliamentary results. They also insisted that court rulings to preserve Egypt’s status, regionally and internationally, be implemented.

The Muslim Brotherhood called on the regime to respect court decisions which annulled the parliamentary election results in most districts and undervalued it so as not to undermine the state’s authority, threaten its institutional bodies and violate the constitution, urging the government to respect the judiciary which is indispensable for freedom of opinion that is the basis for genuine democratic governance.

The Muslim Brotherhood called on the opposition forces that are dismayed by what happened in the election process held from November 28 to December, to unite for political reform that is maintained by peaceful means and guaranteed by the constitution and to prosecute election riggers who use the power of incumbency to fraudulently stay in power. The NDP has made the whole country plunge into deep scientific, cultural, economic, and political retardation that will have significant impacts on Egypt’s stability.
