Politicians: Alexandria ‘s Church Bombing Reveals Serious Security Breach and al-Qaeda Bears Full Responsibility

Political experts emphasized that Al-Qaeda is behind the terrorist bomb blast in front of Alexandria 's Church of Saints , and they have ruled out the possibility that the terrorists have resumed their operations in Egypt. They warned of the possibility of similar terrorist acts because of lack of security.

Hassan Nafaa, Professor of Political Science at Cairo University and coordinator of the popular campaign against presidential inheritance, blamed al-Qaeda, saying: ‘Certainly, Al-Qaeda is responsible for the attacks on the Church.’ He regarded the bomb blast as ‘a retaliatory attack by al-Qaeda’, ruling out the possibility that Israel is behind this abominable crime, saying: ‘Israel does not resort to such violent methods because it fears its relationship with Egypt .’

Amr Hashem Rabie, an expert at the Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, agreed with him, saying: ‘The crime indicates a loss of wisdom in dealing with al-Qaeda's threats for more than 40 days.’ He stressed the possibility of new terrorist attacks in the coming period in the light of current security breaches.

Dr. Wahid Abdel Meguid, deputy chairman of the Al-Ahram Centre for Political and Strategic Studies, has ruled out a return to terrorist violence, saying: ’There are no relatively large groups or organizations that adopt violence as an approach in Egypt, emphasizing that young men believe that the radical ideas of al-Qaeda are behind the bombing which occurred in front of Saints' Church in Alexandria’
