The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information today condemned the attack on the journalist, Ali Said , at Radio and Television magazine by a group of thugs of NDP on the evening of Thursday, March 30th . Ali published an interview with the actress Ietimad Khurshid revealing many encroachments of the former intelligence officer and the commander of the old guards in the National Democratic Party Safwat alSherif , one of the most hostile rivals of the revolution in Egypt.

Ali was in Abdel Moneim Riad area , as he had just left Khurshid’s house after an interview with her when he was stopped by a group of thugs. They severly beat him and threatened both him and the actress, “This is a warning to both of you “, they saids, as a signal to stop this interview which reveals secrets of the former intelligence offiecer Safwat alSherif.

Ali filed a complaint at Kasr elNil police station holding Safwat alSherif responsible for inciting to assault him over his interview with Khurshid.

The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information said, “Assaulting the freedom of the press and terrorizing journalists and media workers is nothing new to the remnants of the National Party and the former regime. Their file black on that has been growing for decades . This incident asserts that they are still able to tamper with human rights in Egypt and are ready to commit more crimes to hide the truth and enjoy impunity”.

“The junta has to stop this mess immediately and submit Safwat alSharif and other men of the National Party accused of corruption and theft of funds for urgent trial. Leaving them at large is unjustified and incomprehensible and will only lead to more crimes against Egyptians” ,added the Network.

The Arabic Network warns that letting the assault on the journalist Ali Said pass without trying those responsible would open the door to more attacks on freedom of expression and Egyptians, which is a rebound on the Egyptian revolution that succeeded in overthrowing Mubarak regime, and whose most important demand was freedom .
