FJP: Representative Parliament Essential to Transition Egypt to Viable Democracy
Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) Secretary General, Dr. Saad Katatny, stated that he expected his party to win 30% of seats in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Speaking to TV host Amr Leithy on Tahrir Satellite channel, Katatny asserted that the presence of large number of parties vying for seats in parliament is a much different and welcomed scene compared to former elections where mostly the MB and NDP were competing against one another.

Katatny stressed that the number of FJP votes will depend on the MB’s performance in providing social services to ordinary citizens across towns and villages, not on the number of the group’s members in the area.

“The people vote for the MB when they see the services and care provided for them and the community. The people vote for those who care for them serve them, they do not necessarily vote for the MB to spite the former NDP"

Katatny added that the FJP is not seeking to monopolize power, and prepared to fuilfill its responsibility of reforming Egypt through coordination and cooperation with any entity or political party to achieve Egypt’s best interests, and setting aside partisan and political differences. Declaring that the era of the one party system has ended for ever after the January 25 revolution, Katatny emphasized that the next parliament must be representative of all Egyptians, including Copts and women, in order to successfully transition Egypt to full viable democracy.
