Muslim Brotherhood Rejects SCAF Control Over People

Muslim Brotherhood Rejects SCAF Control Over People

Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, Secretary General of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), stated that the group does not do compromise deals with the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) or any other institution or body. He stressed that the MB puts "Egypt’s interests above all else, even the Brotherhood itself", and added, "The group, in fact, has organized ‘million man marches’ in response to objectionable decisions made by SCAF".

Speaking on the ‘Ahl el Balad’ programme on the satellite channel Misr 25, he said, "The MB rejects any military control over the people. The military has proven to be slow in convicting members of the corrupt former regime who are currently being tried for murder. This could be held against SCAF and the Egyptian Public Prosecutor".

According to Hussein, the prosecutor general is part of the ousted regime, and he conducts trials with the same mechanisms as the former regime. He stated that, although he cannot be dismissed, SCAF can pressure or dismiss him.
