Morsi’s Campaign Declares 52% Victory Based on Official Records from All Polling Stations

Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Aati, ‘Mohamed Morsi for President’ campaign coordinator, said the campaign now has the official records from all polling stations, as well as final results collected separately from each of Egypt’s twenty-seven provinces.

At a news conference earlier today, Tuesday, Abdel Aati said that counting and tabulation of ballots has ended in 13,099 voting sites, i.e. 100% of the sites where voting took place. Dr. Mohamed Morsi won 13,012,405 votes. He also won 225,893 votes, from Egyptian expats. Thus, Dr. Mohamed Morsi’s total is 13,238,296 votes.

On the other hand, the rival candidate General Shafiq won 12,275,357 votes, at home. He also won 75,827 votes, from Egyptian Expats. Thus, General Ahmed Shafiq’s total is 12,351,184 votes.

Therefore, Dr. Mohamed Morsi has won 52% of the vote, while the rival candidate, Ahmed Shafiq won 48%.
