Dr. Ahmed Halawani, teachers’ union chief and Muslim Brotherhood leader, said that preparation is now under way for a literacy conference, and that authorities are coordinating efforts with all parties concerned. The conference will be held under the auspices of President Mohamed Morsi, who aims to eliminate illiteracy in his term of office.

In a press statement, Halawani pointed that work is continuing to invite all relevant ministries, adding: "We will ask to meet with the President, and we will send the Presidential institution a draft of the project proposal". He further expressed the hope the presidency would pursue the project.
