In a press statement, Yasser Mehrez, a spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood, said: "The Brotherhood appeals to all the Egyptian people to take part in the ‘Jerusalem Solidarity Friday’, in support of the Palestinian people and rejection of the latest Israeli aggression against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the unjustifiable arrest of the Jerusalem’s Grand Mufti.

"Postrevolution Egypt will invariably support the cause of Palestine at both official and popular levels."

Mehrez added, "The Muslim Brotherhood is not the organizer of the ‘Jerusalem Friday’ rallies, but it will participate. The invitation is open to everyone to join and show solidarity.

"Jerusalem Friday will be limited to a march inside the venerable Al-Azhar Mosque, after Friday prayers; and will end after the mass rally."
