Osama Morsi, the son of President Mohamed Morsi, said: "The banning of visits to President Morsi is a brutal act of repression, no different from his enforced disappearance. For us, the President has been forcibly abducted by coup authorities".

According to sources in the judiciary, the Egyptian public prosecutor informed the legal body in charge of President Mohamed Morsi’s lawsuits that there are security issues which make it necessary to refuse his legal team’s request to visit him in Borg Al-Arab prison, in the north of Egypt.

In a statement, Osama Morsi said: "As we mentioned before, President Morsi is held hostage by the junta who executed an illegitimate coup and have no qualms about taking any action against him, however oppressive.

"These coup authorities are accustomed to using everything against humanity and rights. We do not recognize the January 8 trial, nor any of the other trials."

The second session of Morsi’s trial is to be held on January 8. It is not known whether President Morsi himself will be attending or not, nor whether it will be at the same location of the first trial, at the Police Academy, or elsewhere.

Morsi’s son added, "This repression will not break the President, or his will. What President Morsi is doing is by no means less than the sacrifices all Egyptians are making as they oppose and reject the coup".
