A Statement from Former Minister Mohamed Ali Bishr’s Family on Inhuman Jail Conditions

A Statement from Former Minister Mohamed Ali Bishr’s Family on Inhuman Jail Conditions
Egyptian authorities have been relentlessly hauling 65-year old Dr. Mohamed Ali Bishr (Local Development Minister in the elected government of the legitimate President Morsi) from his cell in the infamous Aqrab Prison to the State Security Supreme Prosecution HQ, supposedly for the completion of investigations – at the rate of twice a week for five weeks running, so far – without actually seeing any prosecutors. Each time, he is detained for long hours in prosecution service detention rooms, with no regard for his age or ill health.

Meanwhile, all visits to Dr. Bishr are still banned – for over a month now. This increases the concern of his family for him and his health, especially since prison administration has also banned him from receiving any medicines, foods, blankets or clothes in visits, in Egypt’s worst and most notorious prison.

Even money deposits that could be made in his "detainee account" cannot be made, since they are not allowed without a "visiting" permit – and all visits are banned!
