Anti-Coup Alliance in Menoufia: General Sisi Military Court Jails Dissidents in Mass Trial
Another sham trial, with political trumped up charges, in a military court throws anti-coup civilians in Sisi's repressive dark dungeons.

Military justice, already intensely politicized, has become the most important of the junta's tentacles after its coup against the first elected civilian president in Egypt. It has also just added new crimes to its black record of totally unjust verdicts and sentences.

In a wholesale sentencing session Wednesday, junta justice dealt out absurdly exaggerated and unwarranted jail terms against citizens in Menoufia when a military court sentenced 34 citizens to prison terms ranging from 5 to 7 years.

Moreover, the Criminal Court of Shebin Al-Koum sentenced 16 citizens to life imprisonment, and sentenced 7 others to imprisonment for periods of 7 to 15 years, while sentencing two others to 5 years in prison.

Some of those jailed Wednesday had been in custody before and during the incidents for which they were tried. Also, a Dr Ammar Mohsen Ahmadi, one of those sentence Wednesday, had died over a year ago in a traffic accident. This did not prevent the highly honorable judge from issuing him a life imprisonment term.

The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance in Menoufia stresses that such unjust rulings in trumped up and fabricated cases are only one link in the oppressive chain with which the military are tightening their grip on all state institutions.

The junta's obvious desire to intimidate citizens and stop the revolutionary movement that has continued for more than three years will not come to fruition. Attempts by the military junta regime to cover up its economic failure and poor living and social conditions of citizens and to divert attention from its continuing failure internally and externally will not work.

The coup commanders are pushing the country to a situation that will almost certainly have dire consequences for everyone. However, the hour for fair and prompt retribution is near, much nearer than they think.
