Egypt: Security Authorities Detain Eight MB Members In Menofya.

The Egyptian security authorities on October 13, 2006, detained 8 members of Muslim Brotherhood from Menofya Governorate, north of Egypt, after they stormed their homes, broke contents of their apartments, and took them to undisclosed locations.

In an exclusive statement to Ikhwanweb, Senior MB Leader and Member of the group’s Executive Bureau Dr. Mohammed Ali Beshr said that the policy of random and illegal detentions is not new to the Egyptian regime, assuring, however, that such detention campaigns will not break the group’s will and its pursuit for genuine reform.

It is noted that since the beginning of the month of Ramadan, the security authorities have ordered mosque preachers in Menoufeya to ban Muslim Brotherhood members from leading prayers. They went as far as detaining two MB members, release them and detain them once again.
