Muslim Brotherhood: Arrest of Qaradawi's Daughter by Junta in Egypt Total Disgrace

The arrest of Dr Ola, renowned scholar Yusuf Al-Qaradawi's daughter; and her husband Hossam Khalaf, on Sunday evening (July 2) in Egypt is the most disgraceful act any regime can do.

It is a despicable crime of abduction, based on trumped-up charges fabricated by the military junta whose aim is to exert moral pressure on the highly-respected scholar (Dr Qaradawi) to force him to change his stances in which he supports the peoples' right to freedom and dignity. The putschist regime also seeks revenge against Dr Qaradawi for his well-known moderate and most sensible views, speaking the word of truth and facing up to falsehoods. No-one ever anger or contempt to Dr Qaradawi's views except for despots, Zionists and their agents.

We stand firm in solidarity with Dr Qaradawi, the great scholar with his long struggle and bright history working for Islam and the Muslim nation in words and in actions, and we pray to God to inspire him with patience and fortitude.

We hold the military junta in Egypt fully responsible for the safety of Dr Ola and her husband, stressing that such criminal practices, which cannot be accepted or condoned by any religion, ideology, law or charter anywhere in the world, will not intimidate or discourage those committed to high principles of truth, tolerance and virtue.
