OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, — Palestinian young men in Silwan town, occupied Jerusalem, clashed with Jewish settlers who tried to storm the Bustan suburb with the protection of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Wednesday.

The youths used huge stones and burnt tires to block roads before IOF vehicles. The IOF soldiers fired teargas canisters to disperse the youths while a young man was hurt when an army jeep ran him over  and ten others suffered breathing difficulties.

Meanwhile, the IOF troops rounded up 33 Palestinian citizens in the districts of Qalqilia, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Al-Khalil, Nablus, and Jenin on Wednesday night, Hebrew daily Yediot Ahronot reported on Thursday.

The number points to escalation in the daily arrests that usually range between 5 to 10 citizens daily.

Meanwhile, IOF troops blocked Palestinian workers in Al-Khalil from maintaining historical landmarks in Al-Sahla suburb in the Old City of Al-Khalil on Wednesday.

The soldiers said that the workers did not obtain prior permit from the Israeli civil administration, while in fact their command block any maintenance in the Old City at the pretext of “security reasons”.
