12 MB detainees released including AlJazeera reporter
Qatar-based news network Al-Jazeera has reported that Egyptian authorities have released reporter Mohamed Badr arrested in the run-up to Egypt’s parliamentary elections. Badr was also the husband of the Muslim Brotherhood’s women candidate Azza Algarf.
Mohamed Badr was arrested on November 24 from his home after security personnel confiscated his laptop. He was detained for one month pending investigations and charged with belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood group, promoting its ideas, and possessing its leaflets and publications.
According to security officials Badr, along with 12 members of the Brotherhood, were released due to a lack of incriminating evidence.
Following his release, Badr said in a statement that he hoped the day will come when justice becomes the basis of the relationship between the state and citizens.
