2 MB Figures Denied Travel To Attend Jordan’s Al Banna Rally

Revisiting its unjust and repressive policies towards Muslim Brotherhood members, the Egyptian authorities prevented two senior members of the Muslim Brotherhood from travelling to Jordan to attend a rally on Thursday to commemorate centenary anniversary of Hassan Al Banna-founder of the Muslim Brotherhood- which was organized by the Muslim Brotherhood chapter in Jordan.

Dr. Gaber Kemaiha and Dr. Rashad Lasheen were boarding the flight heading to Jordan at Cairo International Airport when security personnels approached them and informed them that they were not allowed to travel.

Dr. Gaber Kemaiha criticized the government’s action to deny him the right to travel, warning that such an attitude may trigger anger and encourage citizens to give up their loyalty to their nation. ” What harm will a citizen do to his nation if he travels to attend a scientific conference or a rally?”, he lamented, assuring that this act on the part of the authorities is a political stupidity and belies claims of the regime that Egypt is witnessing its best era of democracy.

Dr. Rashad Lasheen said that the official who informed them of the decision apologized and was ashamed of his superiors’ actions. Dr. Lasheen added that the Egyptian regime still persists with outdated policies based on tyranny and dictatorship, assuring that Egypt needs relentless efforts to change this despotic mindset.
