27 MB Members Detained At a Workshop on Education

The State Security Foces on Saturday July 8, 2006 arrested 27 Muslim Brotherhood members at Ras el Bar, a coastal town near Dameitta on the Mediterranean, about 180 km north of Cairo. The security forces stormed the houses of the detainees, arrested them and referred them to the Prosecution.

In a statement to Ikhwanweb, MB First Deputy Chairman Dr. Mohamed Habib said that the MB educators were at a workshop discussing ways and means to give lift to education in Egypt, affirming that these detentions come in the context of the government’s campaign to manhunt the Muslim Brotherhood members, targeting its activities which  mainly aims at achieving development in all aspects of society.  Dr. Habib also assured that these unstopping campaigns prove that Egyptian regime stands in the way of any attempts of reform.

The security frorces last month arrested 31 Muslim Brotherhood from Alexandria while they were vacationing at Mersa Marouh summer resort. A large number of MB members still in custody were rounded up during demonstrations in solidarity with the judges in their quest for gaining independence of the judiciary authority.
