6 Students Expelled In Order Not To Run For Student Body

6 Students Expelled In Order Not To Run For Student Body

Six students at the Faculty of Science, headed for the office of Students Affairs to apply for to draw their candidacy papers, but they were surprised to know that they were expelled from the faculty without prior notification.

They found that they were investigated and dismissed some days before the date of candidacy. Strangely, the students don’t know anything about these investigations nor did they think that they one day would be dismissed.

The story started several weeks ago when one of the faculty students, named Hosam el Tameemy, was arrested  from his faculty and taken to Burg el Arab prison in Damietta along with another student by the name of Usama Hassan from the Faculty of Education. They were also deprived of visits by their families without reasons and in disregard of humanitarian or educational considerations.

In the Faculty of Commerce, the students were surprised to know that the university administration kept the matter secret until hours before the day of the election, something which made it difficult for anyone to apply for candidacy.

However, the students applied for candidacy but the incumbent official failed to come that day so that he didn’t receive their papers. He only showed up at twelve thirty of that day to announce the end of the candidacy deadline, something which the students didn’t know.

As the number of the candidates didn’t reach the stated quorum, the university would nominate the Student Union, in disregard of the election process. In the Faculty of Islamic Studies, the students came back from the post Ramadan holiday to know that the election was already held during the holiday and the faculty accounted for this by saying that it didn’t want to stop the daily lectures for the sake of the election.
