98 Muslim Brotherhood Detainees Released

98 Muslim Brotherhood Detainees Released

The High State Security Prosecution Thursday July 4, 2006, decided to release on bail 98 of detainees belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood while it extended the detention of 31 others.

For his part, Mr. Abdul Monem Abdul Maksoud, detainees attorney, said that the detainees refused to pay the 200 pound bail set by the Prosecution to be paid by each detainees before being released, Abdul Maksoud deplored this attitude on the part of the prosecution enjoining the detainees to pay a bail while they should be compensated for the period they spent in detention without charges .

It is to be mentioned that the 31 Muslim Brothers  were arrested on June 16, while they were vacationing in Mersa Matrouh summer resort.  The prosecution still keeps them in custody under charges of what the authorities say promotion for the ideology of Muslim Brotherhood , a charge always leveled to MB members.
