Dr. Abdul Monem Abdul Foutouh, the Chairman of the Union and an MB Executive Council member, visited Lebanon at the head of a delegation from the Union to offer solidarity to the Lebanese people and seek mechanisms for material and moral aid to the war- ravaged country. Once he arrived in Lebanon, Dr. Abul Fotouh called on the Arab and Islamic people to swiftly react to the appeal recently made by the Muslim Brotherhood Chairman for the support of the Lebanese and Palestinian people in confrontation of the Israeli brutal aggression. He also called on the peoples to not count much on their governments which he said surrendered themselves to defeatism and subordination, reiterating his appeal to the Arab and Muslim people especially the Muslim Brotherhood offshoot of Lebanon " for its honorable record of sacrifice and giving" to send food and medicinal aid to their nationals in all the war- hit areas, and to use all material and moral means including political efforts to rehabilitate all the war affected people.
Abdul Fotouh told Ikhwanonline that he met Lebanese from all cultural spectrums including trade unionists and prominent figures and he sensed their full awareness of the intrigues concocted against Lebanon to isolate South Lebanon and incite the Lebanese people against the resistance, adding that this intrigue was a failure. He added that the Lebanese people have come to realize that the Hizbulla-spearhead war against Israel is not only in defense of the Lebanese resistance but also in protection of all Lebanon, reaffirming that “the entire Lebanese people have made sure that the solution is to close ranks in confrontation of the enemy."
However, Abul Fotouh cautioned the Arab, Islamic and international establishments against leaving the Lebanese people vulnerable to the "Zionist aggressors who pound the infrastructure and target invariably all civilian facilities and people even the ambulance and hospitals", urging all the humanitarian aid agencies to quickly provide Beirut’s doctors with all the relief materials required. In his capacity as the Chairman of the Arab Doctors’ Union, he said he declared Beirut Doctors’ Syndicate as a relief center affiliated to the Union, calling on Arab League Secretary General Amr Mousa to swiftly step in to safeguard the medical items and the doctors so that they could do their relief duty in Lebanon.
