After Casting his Vote, Badie Praises Free Elections, Calls on Egypt to Confront Sedition Efforts

 Dr. Mohamed Badie, chairman for the Muslim Brotherhood, (MB), described the parliamentary elections as the pride and joy of Egypt in general and the constituency of Beni Sueif in particular.

Badie said in statements to journalists outside his polling station in Beni Sueif after casting his vote on Thursday: "Compared to the last elections where our names were crossed off the voter list by state security personnel, these elections have restored the people’s rights to vote".

He continued: "Such measures used to tarnish Egypt’s image illustrating to the world that the nation was incapable of holding free, fair and transparent elections. This is quite contrary to the truth where Egypt is the mother of civilization, and the home of famous scientists renowned for their discoveries".

He said: "The court’s decision to announce the Freedom and Justice Party’s  (FJP) candidates as winner in the district which were formerly annulled is a clear indication of the judiciary’s integrity and justice."

Badie called on all factions to work toward the nation’s stability and development. "I call on the media to highlight the election’s positive image, record the few negative aspects and to help solve the problem that may arise".

He added: "Egypt is living a historical and democratic moment. The judiciary, military and police are as one, protecting the people’s will. The world must watch Egypt and learn from its experience".

In conclusion he called on the people to confront any efforts made by those inciting sedition and strife among the people.
