Ahrar center appeals for ending administrative detainee’s suffering

The Ahrar center for prisoners” studies appealed to all international human rights organizations to urgently intervene to end the suffering of Mahmoud Al-Musalima, 48, the second oldest serving administrative detainee in Israeli jails.

The Ahrar center explained that Musalima, who is held in the Negev desert prison, is suffering from hypertension and severe stomachache.

Fuad Al-Khafash, the director of the center, stated that the Israeli military courts extended Musalima”s administrative detention 14 times under many pretexts, most notably that he poses danger to security in the region.

Khafash pointed out that that the detainee, who was previously detained for 10 years in Israeli jails, had been deprived from meeting his five children for 15 years, where most of them became university students.

In another related context, the Ahrar center also appealed to all international human rights organizations to rapidly intervene to raise the issue of Adnan Hamarsha, the oldest serving administrative detainee, pointing out that he is a father of six children and is deprived from seeing them.

In a statement received by the PIC, the center explained that Hamarsha had already been kidnapped several times, the first in 1988 during which the IOF troops killed his brother who was trying to prevent them from arresting him.

The center quoted Hamarsha as saying that he and his family have been suffering a lot as a result of the continued renewal of his administrative detention since his arrest in 2003, where the Israeli courts extended his detention 10 times at the pretext that there was a secret file against him.

The center called on all Palestinian institutions to expose the Israeli violations against 1,000 administrative detainees, who are held without trial or charge, through filing an international lawsuit with The Hague tribunal.
