Akef Calls on MB’s Parliamentary Representatives to Take over Responsibility

The Muslim Brotherhood’s Leader, Muhammad Akef, exhorted the new parliamentary representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood to shoulder the vital responsibility of being people’s representatives.

Addressing a party celebrating the newly elected MB’s representatives, Akef said he hoped to voice his deep congratulations for the Egyptians on the occasion of having free-elected ’Future Parliament’. However, this hope was scarred by vote fraud and forgery of voters’ will.

“You have to support the truth. Being an opposition group, does not mean that we protest any thing. On contrary, we should form the well-guided opposition that rejects what violates the national interest and at the same time agrees with what avails the nation,” Akef added.

In his address, Akef underlined certain priorities for the MB’s representatives in the new parliament; topped by constitutional amendments that create an atmosphere of political freedom, that control the president’s powers, that abolish freedom-restrictive laws, and that secure smooth transference of power.

“You should do your best to oversee the government performance, to combat public-property waste, and to fight corruption along with corruptors till be tried,” Akef remarked.

In addition, he urged the new parliament to pass the long-hindered law of jurisdiction. He called on the MB’s representatives to give top priority to economical and social reforms.

He concluded putting emphasis on the potential hardships that may counter the MB’s representatives but he invoked Allah (SWT) to help them.
