Al-Erian: MB’s visit with Ghad Party has nothing to do with supporting Ayman Nour in presidential elections
Dr. Essam Al-Erian, from the MB Executive Bureau and media spokesman denied the connection between the MB delegation’s visit to Al-Ghad party for discussion and the support of Dr. Ayman Nour in the presidential elections in which Dr. Mohamed El-Baradei, leader of the National Association for Change, also expressed his wish to run in.
In a statement to Al-Masreyon he said “the visit will be completing the dialogue initiative by the MB with other political parties during the recent period which was aimed at reaching common goals and achieving a state of national consensus. The discussions held were an attempt to unify an opposition front in the battle for political reform.
Al-Erian expressed the willingness of the MB to engage in dialogue with all parties including the NDP. He said that the MB is ready for dialogue with the ruling party within the framework of dialogue sessions similar to those conducted with other opposition parties; however he doubted the possibility of NDP’s supporting the dialogue notion.
In the same context he described the discussions conducted by the ruling party with other political parties as insignificant and insincere lacking any intentions of conducting political reform.
The dialogue sessions between the MB and other political parties was aimed at ending disputes and gaining support and unity of all the opposition powers in their call for political change. So far, the MB has convened with leaders of the Tagammu and Nasserists party both of which have been constructive.
