Al Hashemi Condemns Saturday Bombings, Blames Al-Maliki’s Gov’t

Tarek Al Hashemi, Iraqi vice-president and leader of the Iraqi Islamic Party (IIP) condemned the explosions that took place across Iraq on Saturday.

Al Hashemi blamed in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Ikhwanweb, Al-Malki’s government for responsibility of this ongoing security passivity, demanding the government to provide weapons for citizens to defend themselves.

Text of the Statement

Yesterday’s deadly day shocked all of us. May Allah support residents of Tikrit, Diyala and Emirely. My sincere consolations to all of them.

These Saturday incidents add to the black record of terrorism that has no religion, no chivalry and no values. Terrorism targets every one and makes every one pay the price. When shall all of us close ranks and give end to foreign plots and conflicts in the Iraqi fabric?!.

The most important duty of the government and its security services is to protect citizens, their lives, land, honor and money. When the government can’t do this, it should provide people with money, weapon and training to defend themselves. It should change its failed security to recognize people’s right to defend themselves because it is no to big a threat for newly established security services to bear them of their own.

Also, government’s relief agencies should work immediately for listing losses and casualties in order to pay compensations and provide medical aid, build demolished houses. People must be trained to defend themselves. An investigation must be quickly initiated to reveal committers of these deadly attacks and bring them to justice.

May Allah have mercy on Iraqi martyrs across the political and ethnic spectrum and may Allah support their bereaved families. I wish a speedy recovery for the injured.
