Al-Shater: MB Development Programme Will Take up to 6 months
Deputy Chairman for the Muslim Brotherhood Eng Khairat el Shater confirmed the MB has begun taking concrete steps to develop and improve the group.
Listening to the views and proposals made by numerous elements of the MB he pointed out that the reform procedures are expected to take from 4 to 6 months.
During a conference in the Fayoum governorate Al-Shater cautioned the group to falling prey to rumours spread by numerous sources attempting to alarm the public.
He highlighted that the group is attempting to develop and reform itself to suit the upcoming phase after regulations and restrictions which limited the group’s freedom have been lifted following the toppling of the regime.
He called on members of the group to open to the community and maintain the gains of the revolution and maximize its results. He urged the people to double its efforts in order to achieve successful and peaceful transfer of authority.
Al-Shater stated that the MB has suffered oppression and attempts of isolation for over 20 years by the state; now that the restrictions have been lifted it is time for members to be motivated in promoting the group and its ideologies and peacefully and patiently explaining its principles to the public.
He blamed the former regime for the absence of the MB which regulated the group’s community work through its application of extreme, repressive and security on all levels adding that in the year 2000 alone over 9000 companies were confiscated.
He stated that an overwhelming 35,000 MB members were arrested and detained in Mubarak’s prisons.
Al-Shater confirmed that the MB Executive Bureau and the administrative offices in governorates nationwide are currently engaged in advancing itself seeking to develop the group’s activities through direct contact with the group’s Shura Council.
He added that the differences within the MB were healthy and natural and the group was open to suggestions and encouraged dialogue.
He praised the group’s work and commended the role of the women within the group stressing his respect and appreciation of their work within the community.
