Al-Shater Health Deteriorates in Notorious Aqrab Prison; Medical Care Banned

Hassan, son of Muslim Brotherhood vice-chairman Khairat Al-Shater, said his father was very ill in solitary confinement in Aqrab Prison – one of Egypt’s most notorious junta jails – as prison administration refused him access to any medicines, treatment or life-saving health care.

In a post on his personal Facebook page, Hassan Al-Shater said: "My dear father is very sick in solitary confinement, without medical care at all.

"He is very ill. Those who visited him were shocked at the deterioration of his health."

Al-Shater’s son further said: "My father was detained by former president Gamal Abdel-Nasser; hounded by Anwar Sadat; tried in military courts by Hosni Mubarak, who also seized his property. Now, the coup commander Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi is doing the same".
