Alexandria MB Leader Arrested

Egyptian state security service in Alexandria arrested Mohamed Kamal Khamis, an MB leader and board director of a real-estate investment company in Alexandria .

The state security forces in Alexandria arrested on Sunday at dawn March, 25, 2007, eng. Mohamed Kamal Khamis, a Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leader in the governorate and the board director of a real-estate investment company in Alexandria, after storming into his house and disheveling the furniture; he was taken to an unidentified place and hasn’t appeared in front of the competent prosecution so far.

For his part, Eng. Ali Abdul-Fattah, a Muslim Brotherhood leader in Alexandria , told Ikhwanweb that these detentions aim at passing the constitutional amendments and causing a state of chaos and confusion inside the Muslim Brotherhood.

Abdul-Fattah pointed out that these detentions will not change the Muslim Brotherhood’s attitude towards the constitutional amendments or demanding full social and political reforms.

Arresting engineer Mohamed Kamal is part of the ongoing random and unjustified sweeps of arrests that the regime has been launching against the Muslim Brotherhood since mid December 2006 and that led to arresting hundreds of MB leaders, topped by Mohamed Khairat Al-Shater, the second deputy chairman of the group, and MB Executive Bureau members Dr. Mohamed Ali Beshr, and Dr. Mahmoud Ghozlan, in addition to a big number of businessmen.
