An Egyptian blogger to Lose His Job Because of His Writings on The Internet

The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information today said that an Egyptian blogger lost his job because of his political views on his blog. The blogger,Mohammed Maree, was dismissed from his job because of his  blog posts on the Internet.

Mohammed Maree – owner of the blog EgyTimes http://egytimes.org/– joined a pharmaceutical company in Mahalla two and a half months  ago. He was surprised by the decision to terminate his contract and asked for dismissal reason . He was informed that it was because of his political activity and “concealing”  that he was arrested before for political reasons as well as having a blog on the Internet where he writes articles and opinions critical of the Egyptian government.

It is not the first case that the Egyptian blogger  gets fired  because of  their blog and  political activities The Arabic Network  recorded at least six cases of firing bloggers, activists and Egyptian journalists  for expressing their opinions on the Internet and other media. The last of these cases was the dismissal  of the  Facebook activist Ahmed Maher from work because of his activity in the youth movement, April 6.

The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information said, “Unfair dismissal of bloggers and political activists, writers, journalists, has become a means of  pressure to gag activists . The frequency of these incidents proves it is a systematic method of the Egyptian regime to put pressure on their opponents”.
