Angry protest against Egyptian police violations

Dozens of lawyers and their clients yesterday demonstrated in central Cairo’s Talaat Harb Square against violations of Shubra al-Khaima police officers. It came after security forces prevented demonstrating in El-Shahid Abdel Moneim Riad Square.

Protestors accused Detectives chief and a number of his officers of frame-up, commit crimes, prosecution office kidnapping and regularly and arbitrary arrest warrant against residents of Shubra al-Khaimah.

Some lawyers told Shubra Al-Khaymah’s families of torture and bullying victims that the Interior Ministry officials have promised to reconsider the matter.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first protest conducted by citizens and their lawyers against torture and police crimes in Egypt.

About two months ago, some residents of Cairo and other governorates have gathered in front of Press Syndicate to protest against the violations practiced at police stations and Ill-treatment by Police officers in dealing with citizens.

It should be noted that Egypt’s police stations are very famous in the last period with crimes of torture and ill-treatment on citizens in general and politicians in particular.

Police officer was acquitted assaulting a citizen even he died because the public prosecution described the crime as Non-premeditated murder! Furthermore, the prosecution said that the victim was guilty; therefore it judged he was guiltless.
