Another MB Figure Banned From Travelling To Attend Economic Conference

A scientific conference titled ”Islamists and Democracy” is to be held in London November 2-5 under the auspices of Democratic Studies Center affiliated to Westminster University.

The Center extended an invitation to both Dr. Mohamed Saad el Katatni, the Parliamentary Bloc chairman, and senior MB Leader Dr. Abdul Hamid el Ghazali, a professor at the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences at Cairo University, to attend the conference. One of the two MB leaders, Dr. Abdul Hamid el Ghazali, was denied traveling although the State Security authorities had earlier given him an approval to travel few days ago.

In an exclusive statement to Ikhwanweb, Dr. Ghazali said that depriving him of traveling is encroachment on his right as a professor to participate in scientific conferences, calling on the security agencies to stop such repressive measures toward citizens.

He also lashed at what he called the political narrow mindedness of the Egyptian government, wondering “ what harm I may do to the Egyptian national security if I attend such a conference“

It is noted that the state security authorities had earlier in Ramadan banned Muslim Brotherhood Chairman Mohamed Mahdi Akef and other MB leaders from traveling to the Two Holy Shrines in Mecca and Medina to perform umra.
