Anti-Coup Alliance Statement on Cold Blooded Murder of 52 Coup Opponents in Detention

Egypt’s Anti-Coup, Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance received with deep sorrow and sadness the news of the murder of at least 52 detained coup opponents in jail, in addition to 25 others who are in critical condition. The Alliance points that the putschist government’s statement raises a lot of question marks.

The killing of 52 anti-coup detainees confirms the systematic violence practiced against opponents of the coup and the cold-blooded killings they are committing. This also confirms the news reported about unspeakable abuses and ill-treatment of anti-coup detainees.

The killings of detainees today (Sunday) are clear evidence that refute false claims by the July 3 coup commanders and collaborators, the most recent of which were in General Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi’s speech today.

The Alliance holds the 3 July coup putschists, led by General Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, his Minister of interior Mohamed Ibrahim, fully responsible of this crime. The Alliance further demands an international investigation into this heinous crime as well as other crimes committed by the leaders of the July 3 coup.

God save Egypt and its people and reward the honorable martyrs…
