Anti-Coup Jurists Urge Coup Election Boycott

Anti-Coup Jurists Urge Coup Election Boycott
The anti-coup Independence of the Judiciary Front (IJF) in Egypt asserted that the current Supreme Council of the Judiciary, by receiving the coup leader, is a real partner in the traitorous crime of military coup.

"Mubarak visited Cairo’s Supreme Justice Courthouse on January 9, 2011 in a desperate attempt to boss his judges, who rigged the elections for the People’s Assembly (first house of Egypt’s parliament). Mubarak was ousted shortly afterwards, on February 11, 2011. Today (Saturday), Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi visited the same Courthouse, just before January 25, in a desperate attempt to push the judiciary into the abyss of total lawlessness. This is the same Courthouse that will, sooner rather than later, issue an order for his execution after his ouster.

"The coup leader Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi’s rule over Egypt is illegal: null and void, just like his call to waste more of the Egyptians’ money by holding so-called parliamentary elections that are also null and void."

IJF further said: "Illegitimacy will haunt Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi and all his decisions, processes and actions. His meeting with pro-junta judges is a meeting of a leader of an outlawed armed militia with members of his organization – his henchmen in the judiciary. The compliance of some judges with his demands to hold such illegal coup parliamentary elections is a crime, according to Egyptian law.

"We urge every honest patriotic member of this homeland’s authorities and agencies to arrest Al-Sisi and his senior officials who participated in any of his crimes, in rightful application of the law, the Constitution and popular will as expressed in the squares of the Revolution, so they could be tried for their crimes."

IJF called on members of the judiciary to join and support the Revolution before it is too late, and to participate appropriately in the people’s fully legitimate uprising on January 25, 2015.
