Appeal Court Refused to Release MB Behera Detainees
Bandar Damanhour Misdemeanour Court of Appeal, Thursday 21st May, refused to release Behera detainees and upheld the Public Prosecution decision of detaining them for 15 days pending investigation
Security forces surrounded the court building to dispel supporters and families of detainees who were chanting slogans condemning the arbitrary detentions and demanding justice to be served against SSI officer Nagi El-Gammal who threw Fares Barakat from a fourth floor balcony during the arrest campaign when Barakat asked officer for the arrest warrant.
In the same context, the forensic medicine administration did not issue a report until now on the case of Barakat after the Attorney General of Behera Prosecutions rejected Barakat’s lawyer request to transfer him to Mostafa Kamel Hospital in Alexandria in order to have an operation to repair the mutliple pelvic fractures which he suffered as a result of the officer”s assault
Legal resources stressed that the delay by the prosecution in providing the necessary medical treatment for Barakat is a crime, pointing out that legal actions will be taken
