Arab League holds Israel responsible for consequences of its attacks on Gaza

CAIRO, — The Arab League on Sunday warned that the Israeli military attacks on the Gaza Strip would lead to the explosion of the whole region and held Israel fully responsible for the repercussions.

In a press statement, office director of the Arab League secretary-general Hisham Yousuf said that what Israeli is doing in Gaza hampers the efforts to revive the peace process, and called for necessarily stopping these attacks immediately.

Yousuf warned that if the peace efforts failed, the Arabs would have to declare the Palestinian state through the UN Security Council.

He added that Israel’s practices make any talk about peace or prospect for the establishment of a Palestinian state impossible and unable to be implemented on the ground.

The Arab League official pointed out that if the American efforts succeeded in persuading Israel to abandon its settlement activities and be committed not to repeat such practices, it could be possible then to talk about the resumption of the peace process.
