Labor Strikes Back to Egypt

In a fresh move from the Egyptian working class, thousands of the workers at Ghazl Al Mahala company stages a strike which is considered a part of a series of strikes that hit many labor sectors since beginning of this year. Striking workers detailed in the strike several demands including ousting the board director of Ghazl Al Mahala company, withdrawing confidence from the union committee that- they see- doesn”t represent them or expresses their demands, and increasing their wages and salaries to be in line with price hikes .
 
The workers raised, during their strike, signs which have signatures that reflect their dissatisfaction with the current situation, like “those standing for a long time in queues of bakeries/ El-Mahalla El-Kubra workers.”
 
According to egyworkers.blogspot.com, many residents of El-Mahalla El-Kubra city, journalists, politicians and some students, attended to confirm their full solidarity with the legitimate demands of Ghazl Al Mahala workers .
 
The strikers, up 15000 and are increasing, hold their strike now amid a heavy security blockade .
 
In his first reaction to the strike, Saber Abul Fattouh, labor member of parliament for the Muslim Brotherhood in the People”s Assembly, expressed his full solidarity with Ghazl Al Mahala workers confirming that what they demand are legitimate rights.
 
Asked about the way through which the workers call for their rights, Aboul-Fotouh said that the workers are role models for any one demanding his legitimate right. He called on the Minister of Labour and Minister of Investment to immediately respond to the workers demands .
 
Asked about the Muslim Brotherhood”s role in the labor strike, Aboul-Fotouh said that no political group has any authority over the striking workers, confirming the that the labor movement independent, hoping that their demands are addressed as soon as possible.
 
It is worth mentioning that many working sectors in Egypt started a series of strikes that included the health sector, spinning and weaving and Al-Azhar education.
