Abul Fattouh Afifi, (80 years) a Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leader detained in Torah farm prison, suffered from a dangerous clot in the brain on Tuesday at dawn and was moved to the French hospital at Al-Qasr Al-Aini. The emergency physician decided the have a CAT scan for the patient but the officer, Hani, refused because he wants to break his fasting at home and he insisted that this old detainee be sent back to his prison at Torah farm without undergoing the required CAT scan. He didn”t care about the health of this aged patient whose health is deteriorating according to medical reports submitted by the prison doctor who confirms that he suffers from a dangerous Coronary Artery Disease, a myocardial depression, an arteriosclerosis, continuously rising blood pressure, and a Peripheral vascular disease and an older clot in the coronary artery.

Afifi, detained along with two Egyptian members of parliament months ago, was accused then of attempting to topple the regime in Egypt, although he is more than 80 years old.

A question to Interior Minister on deteriorating health of aged detainee Afifi

MPs, Ali Ismail, Yusri Tueilab and Eng. Ashraf Badruddin- all are members of the MB parliamentary bloc- sent a message to the Interior Minister asking him to immediately take measures to prevent a disaster carried out by the state security in Menofiya topped by State Security Police chief, Major General, Abd Al-Hamid Khairat. This is due to the fact that the judiciary acquitted many detainees but the Menofiya branch detained them again, including for example the releases on bails of five detainees by the Higher State Security Prosecution and they paid the bails but they were detained for two days in the State Security Police branch in Menofiya till another arrest warrant was issued. The detainees are: Abul Fattouh Afifi Shousha, former member of parliament (more than 80 years old), Eng. Fathi Shehabuddin, Dr. Ashour Al-Halawani, Eng. Mahmoud Abdullah, Ashour Ghanem, and that they were sent back to Tora farm prison in spite of the deteriorating health condition of some of the detainees, topped by Abul Fattouh Afifi Shoushae. There is also a medical report about the health of engineer Mahmoud Abdullah showing that he suffers from malignant tumors.

The MPs held the State Security Service in Menofiya and security officials fully responsible for such unacceptable violations, demanding the minister to personally intervene to stop such exercises.
