The Arabic Network concludes its Journalists Training Course

the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information concluded last Thursday , October 25,2007 its 9th training course for journalists and activists in using the Internet and working in compliance with human rights standards in journalistic writing ,the training course the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information held over nine courses under the title” Training Egyptian journalists and human rights activists to use the Internet”.


The program commenced on February 2007 and was concluded on October 2007, over nine courses, 143 participants joined the program, they can be categorized as follow 92 journalists, 51 human rights activists, lawyers and students


regarding the participants” sex:
106 males and 37 females,
regarding the geographical location :106 coming from Cairo and 37 from other governorates
the Arabic Network decided to take into consideration the demands of the participants among journalists and activists to hold more advanced training courses and to increase the number of the participants in order to give journalists and activists the chance to increase their computer skills and writing skills and make them more in keeping with human rights standards.


in addition to that ,the Arabic Network decided to hold an extensive meeting between a number of journalists who participated in its training courses and young journalists with syndicate activists in the journalists” syndicate and also a number of candidates running in the journalists” elections which is set to take place soon, trainers who participated in the nine training courses will also attend this meeting on Wednesday, October 31 at 06:00 pm to discuss the concerns and the problems of the young journalists and the means to solve them


The meeting which the Arabic Network will hold in its offices in Maadi will include ideas and perspectives of syndicate activists regarding the press and young journalists and the attack launched on the freedom of press in Egypt. the meeting will also include a deliberation of ideas that might help to create a way out of this stand-off especially it will be on the top of the agenda for candidates running in the soon to be held Egyptian journalists” syndicate elections


the Arabic Network also invites young journalists who are concerned about the status of the press in Egypt and who hasn”t obtained the membership of the journalists” syndicate to attend and participate in discussions about the standards of membership in the journalists” syndicate in Egypt and to answer the question” who is the journalist?”
