Health of Hassan Zalat Deteriorates after Military Court Denies him Heart Surgery

Call of Hassan Zalat, a Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leader referred to the Egyptian military tribunal, is falling on deaf ears as he is denied a sufficient medical care. Zalat”s health condition requires a special attention. He should undergo an open heart surgery but he was officially denied this humane demand.

His son, Omar Hassan Zalat, said in a statement to Ikhwanweb that his father does not get a sufficient care and that he currently lies in Al-Batna hospital in the prisoners ward, facing three heart attacks everyday .

It is worth mentioning that the MB detainees” defence team submitted a request to the military tribunal demanding a release for health reasons for Hassan Zalat. However, the military tribunal rejected this demand and referred the file to the military prosecution which is supposed to follow up the case and report the developments to the Minister of Health and the chairman of the Specialized Medical Councils to issue a decision in the months-long deteriorating case.

Hassan Zalat has been under arrest since last March. State security elements carried him from his house while he was recovering from an open heart surgery, adding insult to injury in his health condition.
