Mashaal Holds Contacts with Egyptian, Arab Officials to Solve Gaza Pilgrims’ Crisis


 Khalid Mashaal, the Palestinian Hamas movment politburo chief, exerts huge efforts in order to end the crisis of the Gaza Strip pigrims stranded in front of the Egyptian port of Noweiba, after Egyptian authorities declared that they won”t allow the pilgrims to return home through Rafah Crossing, conditioning that they return through Israeli controlled-Karam Abu Salem crossing.
 
A statement issued by the media office of the Hamas Movement, a copy of which was obtained by Ikhwanweb on Saturday Dec, 29th, 2007, said that Mashaal held phone calls with a number of Egyptian officials and Arab leaders and officials in which he spoke about the tough conditions facing the Palestinian pilgrims returning from the Holy Lands to Gaza Strip.
 
Mashaal demanded the Egyptian and Arab officials necessarily for securing a safe return for Gaza Strip pilgrims through Rafah Border Crossing, between Egypt and Gaza Strip, and not using any other crossing.
 
The press statement pointed out that Mashaal phone calls and contacts were well understood by these official authorities and that “Actions will be taken to allow these pilgrims facing tough conditions to return home soon”.
