Khairat Al-Shater Skips MB Trial Session for Health Reasons

Engineer Khairat Al-Shater, the second deputy chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) suffered from diabetes complications and a high blood pressure which prevented him from attending Monday”s military session.

The session of the previous day, held in the Haikestep region, ended late on Sunday evening causing so much fatigue to the MB leaders who take a vey long distance to and from the prison to the court specially that the sessions are held nearly on a daily basis.

40 Muslim Brotherhood leaders are standing trial before a military tribunal on terrorism and money laundry charges which may observers see as politically motivated.

A big number of MB detainees have suffered from deteriorating health conditions inside prison as Egyptian prisons lack the suitable human health care. Add to this the fact that the State Security Police stop short of implementing requests of the detainees who seek treatment under specialized doctors in Egyptian hospitals, not in the prison”s hospital which isn”t suitable for human use.
