Egypt Opens Borders with Gaza to Help Injured

Egyptian government agreed to open its borders with Gaza Strip to allow dozens of critically wounded Palestinians to receive treatment abroad. It is still yet to be known whether Egypt agreed on providing Gaza Strip with necessary needs including fuel supplies.

Earlier, Sami Abu Zuhri, a leader in Hamas, told Ikhwanweb that there are contacts between the movement and Egyptian officials on Saturday during which Hamas demanded Rafah crossing be opened to allow those injured in the heinous Israeli aggression on Gaza to go to the Egyptian city of Al-Arish for treatment. Arab countries expressed readiness for sending planes laden with medics to help treat those injured in Gaza.

” We also demanded ’our brothers’ in Egypt to provide us with fuel because we ran out of fuel supplies and ambulances can’t move the injured because of lacking fuel. Egypt promised to respond to our requests on Sunday morning”, said Abu Zuhri.

“There are more than 200 injured who face death because of the shortage of medical materials that they are badly in need for”, he added .

It is worth mentioning that several popular and public activities were organized in Egypt demanding government to open borders to move the injured and give them medical care in Egyptian hospitals. They also demanded offering all kinds of aid needed by Gaza people.
