Delegations of the Hamas Movement and the Islamic Jihad Movement headed Thursday morning to Egypt to resume discussions about a number of issues especially the temporary calm with the Israeli occupation and the opening of the Rafah border crossing.

In an exclusive statement to the PIC, Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman, stated that the Movement"s position towards the truce is clear and stipulates that any calm must be reciprocal, simultaneous and comprehensive.

Dr. Abu Zuhri also said the repeated threats of Israeli premier Ehud Olmert against Gaza reflects Israel"s insistence on continuing its aggression on the Palestinian people, adding that Hamas is always ready for all options and for the defense of the Palestinian people.

The spokesman, in another context, called on the Arab summit which will be held in Damascus during the next two days to necessarily develop mechanisms for the implementation of previous resolutions on breaking the siege imposed on the Gaza people.

He also called for adopting the Sana"a declaration to ensure an end to the inter-Palestinian dispute, expressing hope that the summit could succeed in achieving these demands.
