14 Muslim Brothers Arrested, Four Released

Egyptian State Security forces rounded up on Sunday 14 Muslim Brotherhood members from the Nile Delta city of Al Monofeya, MB Attorney Abdel Monem Abdel Maksoud told Ikhwanweb.

The detainees include Mohamed Abu Omar and Zakaria Nasreddin(school teachers), Ramadan El Dokki (businessman), and Gamal Ragab Mousa (cleric).

The arrests were criticized by MB MP from Al Shohada constituency in Al Monofeya Ali Ismail, who told Ikhwanweb that the detainees were arrested because of their active participation in his activities and services to the constituency residents, which the security apparatus wants to undermine.

“State Security Investigations are launching this raid in a bid to intimidate other Muslim Brotherhood MPs who work relentlessly to serve the people they represent,” he said.

“But we will not be deterred by these arrests, and we will continue our active engagement with the people.”

On Saturday, Cairo Criminal Court acquitted four other Alexandira MBs  who were arrested last month from a resort where they were spending a summer holiday. The acquitted are Mohamed Mahmoud, Mohamed Mustafa, Mohamed Khalaf, and Mahmoud Hashem.
