Exceptional Security Measures In Tanta To Protect American Ambassador On Visit

Security forces were intensified at the entrances and exits of Tanta city in anticipation of the visit of American Ambassador to Egypt Margaret Scobey to Tanta to participate in the celebration of the birth of late El-Sayyid El-Badawy.  Security forces drove out residents surrounding El-Sayyid El-Badawy mosque from their homes and closed a number of stores around the mosque as well.  It also detained a few political activists in El-Gharbiyyah with the excuse of protecting her visit.

There has usually been an over-intensification of security measures in Tanta as Former American Ambassador to Egypt Francis Ricciardone and his family had also been keen on attending this celebration.
