MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular anti siege committee, has called on UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon to pressure the Israeli occupation authority into opening the Gaza crossings and ending the siege.

He asked the UN chief to assume his responsibility towards the Palestinian people and not to be content with issuing statements and condemnations but rather to immediately and urgently act to end the closure and siege.

Khudari, addressing a press conference in Gaza city, called for concentrated Arab, Islamic and international official and popular effort to end the state of silence and seriously pressure occupation into ending the siege.

Appeals for saving Gaza are no longer acceptable, he said, noting that the losses as a result of the siege had exceeded 750 million dollars other than tens of million of dollars as indirect losses.

The IOA has passed a death sentence against all aspects of life in the Strip, he said, warning of popular outbursts.

The MP urged Arab league secretary general Amr Mousa and Arab foreign ministers to visit the Gaza Strip to get acquainted with the citizens" suffering and not to get out of the Strip unless the siege is broken.
