After the decision of dismissing him from his work as a medical doctor in General Authority for Health Insurance, Dr. Essam el-Erian, a top leader in the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), confirmed in exclusive statements to Ikhwanweb that he brought a lawsuit against this decision.

Dr. Essam el-Erian explained that he filed this lawsuit because he does not want this decision to be a precedent aiming at getting rid of politicians and opponents of the regime.

"Despite the fact that there are few years for me before retiring on pension, I refuse this decision to be a precedent against those who are prosecuted and imprisoned for political charges," El-Erian told Ikhwanweb.

El-Erian revealed that he was dismissed from his work after the exceptional ruling of imprisonment issued by the military court against him in 1995, and after releasing him the Administrative Judiciary issued a ruling of returning him to work in 2004, but he got his moral rights only.

"I had asked for a leave without pay to devote myself to the union work, but the Ministry of Health issued a decision to terminate my service." El-Erian added.

"Doctors Without Rights" group condemned the General Authority for Health Insurance"s decision of dismissing El-Erian who occupies the position of the Assistant Secretary-General of the Medical Doctors Syndicate, and demanded to return him to work according to the Administrative judiciary"s ruling.

The arbitrary decision of terminating El-Erian"s service is contrary to Article No.23 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which stipulated the right to work for everyone and the right to choose this work in terms of fair and satisfactory conditions, in addition to protecting one"s right against unemployment.
