MB Lawyer Khalaf Bayyoumi affirmed in his statements to Ikhwanweb that around 228 MB detainees in Borg El-Arab prison north of Egypt are suffering unprecedented restraints whether during family visits which are not permitted to exceed 30 minutes or in their food and clothes.

Bayyoumi added that this represents a violation of the law which permits royal food and clothes for provisional detainees who are further deprived of covers in spite of the bitter cold by the prison administration.

Bayoumi explained that this behavior is not the first of its kind criticizing the comparison of political prisoners with criminal prisoners. Bayyoumi also revealed that a large number of prisoners are being denied access to medicine which has negatively affected the health conditions of several of them.

It is worth mentioning that the number of MB detainees in Borg El-Arab prison is around 228 prisoners from different governorates, mostly Alexandria, Buheira, Sharqiyyah, Gharbiyyah, Kafr El-Sheikh, Daqahliyyah, Menoufiyya, Dumyat, and Fayyoum.

These detainees had appealed for rescue from what they described as "difficult conditions" being imposed on them in Borg El-Arab prison including the continuous cut of water supply and cells that are extremely tight in relation to the number of prisoners they hold and which are not equipped with any form of subsistence that provides prisoners with the minimal dignified life!
