Iraqi Islamic Party Political Bureau Member and MP Dr. Omar Abdel-Sattar El-Karbouly affirmed in a press statement that Obama’s decision to withdraw American forces from Iraq confirms the soundness of the vision of those who passed this agreement provided that it be secured by a public poll and the national reform document that would solve the true crisis of the Iraqi reality whose future is vague under the current regional interventions.

“Obama’s decision- whether voluntary or compulsory as a result of Iraqi efforts, monetary factors, or other factors- was not because Iraqis in the parliament passed a bill for selling Iraq as some say, although it was the harder option for them,” El-Karbouly said adding, “Regional interventions from neighboring countries in Iraqi affairs have disturbed the internal national, political, security, economic, and even cultural balance and this is what has been hindering the issuing of a free and independent Iraqi decision that would resolve the internal issues and build the bridges of trust between Iraqis.  The mutual fears between Iraqis and the lack of trust between Iraqi leaders are a result of the disturbance in the national balance, so Iraqis must work towards removing regional agendas from Iraq.”

El-Karbouly further explained that after six years, Iraq has been crossed out of America’s priority pyramid after the grinding financial crisis and the issues of Afghanistan and Pakistan.  “Similarly, if Iraqis decide, there will come a day, when other countries, that have penetrated Iraq politically, economically, and security-wise, will withdraw from Iraq when it becomes no longer on their priority list,” El-Karbouly added clarifying, “the American administration’s strategy is chosen, established, and planned.  When we read Baker Hamilton’s report in the end of 2006, and everyone knows its writers are from the republican and democratic parties, 5 from each and that they are the ones who continue to lay down the plans for the American administration.”
